Glass and frames
Conservatory Cleaning, Inside and Out
Conservatory roofs collect algae, lichen and airborne grime far faster than vertical glass — and it is the roof that costs you the light. We clean the roof, the glazing bars, the frames, the gutters and the finials as one job.

Conservatory with clean glass and white UPVC frames cleaned by Lanes Ltd
Why conservatory roofs go green
A conservatory roof sits at a shallow angle, holds moisture and rarely gets a proper drying wind. That is ideal for algae and lichen, which then bed into the sealant lines and the ridges of polycarbonate sheets. Left long enough the staining becomes permanent-looking and the room feels dark even on a bright day.
What a conservatory clean includes

- UPVC frames and cills washed down
- Conservatory guttering cleared and flushed

Pure water, no harsh chemicals
We clean using filtered pure water through a soft brush. Because the water carries no minerals it dries without spotting, and because we don’t rely on detergents there is nothing to run off into borders, ponds or planting. One of our customers keeps us specifically because we clean the glass above her pond without chemicals.
Commercial conservatories and garden rooms
We clean conservatories and glazed extensions for pubs, restaurants, hotels, care homes and garden centres as well as private homes. For hospitality premises we work around service times so the room is ready and dry before your customers arrive.

Window cleaning in Grantham →Common questions
Conservatory Cleaning: your questions answered
Can you remove green algae from a conservatory roof?
Yes. Soft-brush cleaning with pure water lifts algae, lichen residue and traffic film from both glass and polycarbonate roofs, including the glazing bars where staining collects.
Do you use chemicals near plants and ponds?
No. We clean with filtered pure water, so there is no detergent run-off into borders, planting or ponds.
How often should a conservatory be cleaned?
Twice a year suits most conservatories. Roofs under trees or on north-facing elevations green up faster and benefit from a visit every four months.
Do you clean the inside of the roof too?
We clean internal glass and frames where they can be safely reached. Tell us about the room when you enquire and we'll confirm at survey.
Will you clear the conservatory gutters at the same time?
Yes, and we recommend it — conservatory gutters are shallow and block quickly, which causes overflow down the frames.
