Uppingham’s commercial glass is not curtain walling. It is small paned shopfronts, sash and stone-mullioned windows above trading floors, courtyard buildings behind the High Street, and school property spread across the town. That shapes the method: pure water and a pole rather than detergent and a squeegee, so the frames, mullions and sills come clean at the same time and nothing runs down the stonework afterwards.
It also shapes the timing. Retail and hospitality glass gets done first thing, before deliveries and parked cars close the frontages off. Offices and school buildings go later in the round, when we can get a pole up without working over people.
